Day 02: Full day tour of Kathmandu durbar square-the old palace square, Swayambhunath-is one of the oldest stupa of Kathmandu valley, Pashupatinath- the holiest Hindu temple famous for cremated the body according to Hindu rituals-Boudhanath, the biggest and one of the holiest stupa. O/N at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 03: An hour drive to Dakshinkali then to Bungamati, Khokana- a very old Newari settlement and Kiritipur. O/N at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 04: Drive to Thimi and Bhadgaun-city of the devotees. O/N at Nagarkot.
Day 05: Rise early and watch the sunrise over the Himalaya and hike to Changaunarayan. O/N at hotel in Dhulikheli.
Day 06: sightseeing tour of Dhulikheli then drive to Namobuddha and hike descends to Panauti. O/N at hotel.
Day 07: Departure to the International airport.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 01:-Arrival in Kathmandu
Our airport representative will pick you up at the airport and transfer to Hotel. It is 7km and takes about10 minutes. Then you will be given a notice about the pre-meeting time and the place, where it will take place. The meeting, will be about the itinerary as well as the time to departure for the next day sightseeing. Welcome
Dinner with Nepali folk dance in the evening.
Day 02:-sightseeing tour in Kathmandu city, approximately:-6 hours
We explore the culturally diverse city of Kathmandu with a local guide to ensure you receive the best explanations about the amazing sites seen on the tour. These include, Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath, Swayambunath (Monkey Temple) and Patan Durbar square. It is about 35 Km.
We take an early breakfast at hotel then ready to explore one of the most exhilarating sightseeing tours in Kathmandu valley. First, we drive to Swayambhunath…
Swayambhunath: it is 3 km away from the west of Kathmandu. Swayambhunath is regarded as one of the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world. It is said to be more than 2000 years old. The temple is also known as Monkey temple, because of the Monkey living around. The stupa is a solid hemisphere of brick and clay, perched on a sacred hilltop is crowded with votive stupa, gilded peacocks, Taras, thunderbolt {Vajra}, Mandalas, Tibetan monasteries and a temple of Harati Ajima and has Lord Buddha’s eyes adorned on all the four sides of the spire base. Swayambhunath also offers a fantastic view of Kathmandu valley.
Then we drive to Kathmandu durbar square. It takes about 15 minutes.
Kathmandu durbar square:- Kathmandu showcase the finest display of architectural masterpiece like intricately carved windows, intrinsic roof struts, statues of gods and goddesses, temples designed in pagoda style with erotic carvings and repoussé metalwork facades. Kasthamandap is also known as Maru Sattal and lies in durbar square. It was built in the 14th century by King Laxmi Narshingh Malla from the wood of a single tree and therefore was named so. Another highlighted that you can see here is the Kumari is the Living Virgin Goddess of Hindu religion and built by King Jaya Prakash Malla near Hanuman Dhoka. Kumari is chosen from a Newari Shakya family after meeting up with all the criteria. She must not bear any body marks or injuries and when she reaches puberty, another Kumari replaces her. Non-Hindus are not allowed into the temple and photographing the temple is strictly prohibited. As you, visit Hanuman-Dhoka durbar square, we explore Talaju temple, Basantapur durbar square, Hanuman statue, Degutalle temple, Kasthamandap.shiva-parbati temple, Kumari Ghar {the house of living god}, nine-stored place. Then we continue to Pashupatinath is the holiest temple of Nepal.
Pashupatinath: Pashupatinath is the holiest Hindu pilgrimage destination in Nepal, is the abode of Lord Shiva. This sacred temples lies on the bank of Holy River 5kms east of Kathmandu city. It was built in 879 A.D. However, the present temple built by King Bhupatindra malla in 1697 A.D. A gold plated roof, silver door and woodcarving of the finest quality decorate the Pagoda construction. The most interesting thing that you can see is the Hindu rituals of cremating a corpse at the bank of holy Bagmati Rivers. A peaceful place will give you an insight into one of the world’s greatest religions. Non-Hindus are strictly prohibited from entering the temple.
Eventually, we drive to Boudhanath…
Boudhanath: Boudhanath, possibly the largest Buddhist stupa, also known as little Tibet is the site of great reverence for Himalayan Buddhist. It is lies 8 kms east of Kathmandu and has built by Lichhavis king Man Dev in the 5th century A.D. being on the old Tibet-Nepal trading route with many Tibetans living around this area, many monasteries of the different sects of Tibetan Buddhism have been built. The atmosphere of the whole place lightens up with zest as fragrance of incense drifts through the air. Chanting of monks and creaking of prayer wheels can be heard while strolling around the base. It is one of the prime sites for pilgrims and tourists in the country will give you the little glimpse of Tibet. O/N at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 03: -{ Dakshinkali -Bungamati, khokana and Kiritipur}
Breakfast at hotel, and then we continue our exotic tour to Dakshinkali. We drive to Dakshinkali, which takes about 1 hour
Dakshinkali: The temple of Dakshinkali is dedicated to one of the most important Hindu Goddess Kali who is usually depicted with a malla, a garland of human skulls hanging across her breasts, her tongue hanging from her mouth down to her chin, an obscene violent expression of hate and terror on her face, her skin black as night. Located 22 km from the city center on the southern rim of the Valley past Pharping village. The entire route to the temple is beautiful. Dakshinkali temple complex, set amid trees in a tiny valley between two mountains. The large number of animals sacrifices every Saturday and Tuesday, totaling tens of thousands throughout the year. People believe the animals' blood is an attempt to feed the goddess Kali's eternally insatiable stomach. Regular religious ceremonies are performed daily.
Kiritipur: It is located 5 km from the center of Kathmandu. Standing atop a small hill, Kiritipur is a picturesque town. In Nepali, it means "a glorious town". It is still an open museum of religion, culture and tradition and glorious work of Newari crafts and architecture and has a long back scene of many historic battles moments in Nepal's history. The town was first established in the 12th century. It later becomes an independence kingdom and the last stronghold of the Malla. It also equally importance for the finest temple, Chaityas and Stupa of valley are prevail throughout this typically built Newari town is also depict the masterpieces of Nepalese art, architecture and shrines are the hub of festivals and religious ceremonies (Jatras). A 16th century of Bagh Bhairav is interesting because of swords and shields fixed in the front of the temple.
Then after, we drive to Bungamati. It takes about 25 minutes.
Bungamati: It lies five kilometers south of Patan. A typical Buddhist Newar village is tightly clustered against a hilly riverside slope surrounded by terraced rice fields. It represents the fascinating glimpse of rural life in the Kathmandu Valley. The life takes place more on the streets than inside with villagers spinning, caring for children, gossiping, processing crops in the sun. Woodcarving is a tradition alive and strong here and it is possible to see beautiful pieces being produced, including doors and window frames. Bungamati is also one of the two homes of the rain god, Raato Machhendra nath temple with heavy columns and beautiful supports s its lower part.
Khokna: At a twenty minute walk towards Karya Binayak from Bungamati is located the village of Khokna is famous for manufacturing mustard oil. It is worthwhile to seek out one of the village’s oil presses, locate in poorly lighted factories with medieval atmosphere. O/N at hotel.
Day 04:-sightseeing in Thimi and Bhadgaun:-
Breakfast at hotel then we drive to Thimi lies en-route to Bhaktapur.
Thimi: It is situated 8 km east of Kathmandu on the way to Bhaktapur. Exquisite temples and other religious shrines dot its streets. It is known for its artistic masks and earthen pots, often seen spread out on the streets to dry in the sun. It can be called a traditional pottery locality with almost 80% of the population still involved in pottery. Handspun cotton cloth is another Thimi specialty.
Bhadgaun: or Bhaktapur lies on the Eastern part of Kathmandu valley. Bhaktapur is regarded as the abode of ancient Nepali culture, custom and alluring arts pieces of excellent craftsmanship. Each historical monument represents medieval culture, religious and custom of Nepal. Newari populace has largely dominated Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur is the only place in Nepal, which has remained untouched by western culture. There are fascinating architectural show pieces- Lion Gate, Golden Gate, Art Gallery, Statue of King Bhupatindra, Nyatapola, the tallest and the best examples of Pagoda. In addition, fifty-five windowed Malla palaces are the living prides of Bhaktapur.
In the evening, we drive to Nagarkot from Bhaktapur. It takes about 30minutes. O/N at Nagarkot.
Day 05:- Rise early and watch the sunrise over the Himalaya and hike to Changaunarayan. O/N at hotel in Kathmandu
Nagarkot: Situated at an altitude of 2175 m. to the east of Kathmandu, Nagarkot stands proud as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. It offers incredible panoramic Himalayan views such as Mt. Everest, Manaslu, Gauri Shanker and many others. It also promises the most magnificent unparallel sunrise view over from the mountains shiny every rock and Himalaya turned to be the best sites for sunrise. Surrounded by terraced hillsides and picturesque farmhouses, the hilltop resort is the essence of a pleasant escape. The most popular walk leads down from Nagarkot along a ridge to the temple of Changaunarayan - with views of Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur to the left.
Changaunarayan: From Nagarkot we climb down over the ridge of the hills, surrounding by terraces and valley along the typical Nepali houses May offers some of the best opportunity to get experienced to set your eyes over typical art and life styles of Nepal people depict the opulence culture and traditions. We continue climb down for a while and then ascents through pine forest take you to the Changaunarayan temples. Changu Narayan Temple, the oldest temple in Kathmandu valley came in existence in 4th century. The temple is adorned by some of the best specimen of stone, wood, and metal craft in the valley. The temple stands as the epitome of culture, religion, history and faith of the Kathmandu valley. In the courtyard, among dozens of Vishnu statues, a 5th century image with 10 arms is a masterpiece. There is also an image of Garuda, the mythical bird that serve as Vishnu’s vehicle. Besides it, we can see the most important and oldest Lichhavis inscriptions of the valley, is said to have the oldest and first written record found in the Kathmandu valley. It also provides an amazing view of Manohara River cascading through lush vegetation. In the evening, we set the pace to Dhulikheli for overnight.
Day 06:- Dhulikheli Namobuddha, Panauti
Dhulikheli: it is the one of the best place for traditional heritage, unique cultural setting and breathtaking views of the snowy Himalaya proves Dhulikheli is the best destination for tourist. The Himalayan ranges from the twin crest of Mt. Langtang in the west to the Mt. Everest in the east can be clearly viewed in a clear day. Dhulikheli is ideal for snow-capped peaks, sunrise, sunset and it is different from any other place. After spending some minutes under pleasant view of mountains, we then drive to Namobuddha.
Namobuddha: is the sacred Buddhist shrines. Buddhist people believe that anyone who worships here properly will get free from all kinds of evil spirits and their wills can be fulfilled. According to Buddhist Mythology, about 2550 years ago Prince Siddhartha Gautam (Gautam Buddha) had gone to Hiranyagiri Mountain with his followers after worshiping the holy Stupa of Swayambhunath. Once he got over there he named the stupa protecting his relics from his previous life as "Namo Buddha", since then this holy place is named as Namo Buddha. This shrine attached with very interesting legend that you get the best explanation from your guide in details. Then we further continue to Panauti
Panauti: it is situated in a scenic position at the junction of the sacred confluence of the Roshihola and Punymati has offered typical Sattal, inscriptions, sculptures and typical Nepalese houses. Indresvar Mahadev temple present the typical Newari architect believed to build in 1294 A.D.The roof struts showing different manifestations of Shiva are matchless in their serenity. In the evening, we drive back to Katmandu. O/N at hotel.
Day 07: Departure to the International airport
