In October of 2007, some friends and I left the Northeast corner of the US to embark on a trekking expedition through Nepal.  Upon our arrival, we were introduced to our guide, Man.  He was cheerful, informative, and went out of his way to make our trip as comfortable as possible. From Kathmandu, we were scheduled to fly to Lukla to start hiking towards Everest base camp.  Unfavorable weather conditions kept us coming back to the airport day after day waiting for the fog to lift so that the flights could go out.  On our own, we may well have never left the city and missed out on our mountain adventure, but Man suggested another route and helped us to rearrange our trip to Annapurna in western Nepal.  We were so grateful to him for giving us the opportunity to explore a Himalayan region that was both less crowded and more rustic than our original trip. Our lodging was comfortable, the was food delicious, and the locals were incredibly friendly and accommodating.  Thank you, Man, for such an amazing experience.  We could not have done it without you!

Thank you very much for your help
Hi Man,
Michelle Nicholas and Liam WynneMy boyfriend and I traveled to Nepal in April 2007, a trip that we had both been looking forward to for a while. Instead of going through a trekking company that was organized via our travel agent, we decided on a more independent style and chose, instead, to hire a guide and porter solely. At first, before I had met Man, I was unsure whether it was the right decision as I was fearful of being 'stuck' with someone who wasn't experienced or knowledgeable of the area.

Our initial apprehension was completely over come when we met our tour guide, Man. Man was extremely knowledgeable of the Annapurna trekking area (as well as many other treks within Nepal),was always eager to answer our questions, and treated us with the up most respect and honesty. Man became like a friend whilst on our trek and we shared many laughs along the way. Not only was he friendly and a great guide, he was patient and allowed us to go at our own pace, in our own time.

I am happy that Man has started his own business as his professionalism and experience is to be shared. I would recommend Man to any person seeking a great adventure in Nepal, and would be happy to speak to anyone who wanted to know more information.

Happy trekking !

Namaste !!

Namaste was the first word I learnt from Man, and it has thereafter become the must-use phrase that I have used to everyone I met along the trek.

Nine of us from Malaysia hired a licensed trekking guide and 5 porters for the 19 days EBC Cross Chola-la Gokyo Trek during October 2006. We had Man as our guide and other 4 friendly porters, who are Purna, Durga, Bakda, Asman, Prem. Man was the youngest among us, he was an undergraduate student who has a dream to own a trekking company in the future, and setup a charity organization to help students at his hometown. Most of those kids are not as lucky as him where they live in poverty (Man’s dad was a teacher at his hometown). At this young age, I was so impressed by his dreams.

All of us had gone through the longest trek in our lifetime, well, at least for me. It was the best experience that I’ve ever had. When my teammate KokYuen and I suffered from altitude sickness at 4910m (Lobuche) and 5180m (Gorak Shep) during day 10, Man took the immediate action to save our life that I’m appreciating it very much until now.

I will never forget the moment when I was nearly fell unconscious at Gorak Shep, that Man and other 2 porters, Bakda and Durga took turn to carry me and my rucksack, where I was accompanied by 2 of my teammates, KokMeng and PengMeng. They descended me to 500m to Tukla through the snowy night. My body was cold and shivering while I lied on their back, but it was truly heartwarming. This has touched me deeply that I couldn’t stop my tears. There were millions of thankful and gratitude inexpressible from the bottom of my heart. Fortunately, I have recovered after a day rest. Man and porters accompanied us for the second attempts that we managed to ascend from Tukla to Gorak Shep and thereafter Kalapathar on the same day. It was a wonderful experience and truly unbelievable that we really made it. All those experiences and encounters would not be forgotten for the rest of my life and for those who helped me along the way, I’m truly grateful.

Michelle Nicholas and Liam WynneMan, as our guide and also a great friend has never disappointed us for the entire trip. He cared for our needs, he understood the strength and weakness of us very much, he took action promptly, and nevertheless, he was such a responsible and funny person!

I will definitely come back again in the future; I will rate for Man, one of my best friends in Nepal! Congratulations Man, we are proud of what you have been achieved, and we hope you are doing well in the future!

Warmth regards,
Friends from Malaysia, Lai and teammates

After a lot of discussion in a friendly way, we changed every day together our planned tour. Our target was to enlarge the average 4 hours tour to 6 hours or more tours and to have strenuous trekking experienced. Thank you very much for your wonderful service and the time that you have consumed to keep us happy at any time as well as we really enjoyed the evening, you learned us playing the great game. Especially the really the last game took everyday approximately an hour or more. We will back again.

Geoffer FisherWe had a wonderful experience. The trekking was just the flight mix of easy walks and good steep climbs and descents. Poonhill and Gandruk were highlights especially our visit to the local school. Man was very informative of the local customs, lifestyles and geography and made sure we had everything we needed. We could not have asked for more Ragu was cheerful and helpful despite having to carry our large packs. I was very much impressed with the whole trip organization and our experiences and will be planning to visit Nepal again.

Geoffer FisherI have spent nearly the last 2 weeks with Man trekking through Tikhe Dhunga, Ghorepani, Phedi, pokhara { Annapurna} and then over to Lukla Phakding, Namche bazaar, Tengboche , khumjung. It has been a quest of mine of many years and with man’s attentive service and constant information. He has proved me with a greater appreciation of the Nepali life, culture, and history and mountains statistics. Man ensured everything was to my satisfaction several times, each day, which was very reassuring. The trip organization went very smoothly and when there were small problems, they were solved very quickly. Man was always available to answer some of my silly questions and was always very positive- but give what Nepal has to offer who could be negative.

I will be returning to Nepal in the near future will be calling Man to arrange a longer trek, may be the Annapurna circuit.
Thanks again for all your great work

Dear Man,
Jill ClarkeYou have an extraordinary companion, a great, informative an entertaining trekking friend, you are considerate, thoughtful, and attentive and noting is too much trouble. All the organization and accommodation, transportation, food has been well managed. I am so grateful we have not had to give any of that a second thought. In addition, to being responsible for us. I would like to especially thank you for your personal touch. In addition, give me a much closer understanding of the Nepali people and a little of the language too. Thank you Man for creating a special experience in the Himalaya

Man, Thank you for helping our do guide us safely back to Katmandu. You managed to find our group after our guide had to return to Katmandu because of health problems. We changed our itinerary due to unexpected heavy snowfall and you did very well to find us in this big area. We enjoy your polite and responsive presence and would have liked to meet you earlier. The time we spend in the Khumbu region was a great experience and I plan do come again. Best wishes for your need down and your life.

Dear Man,
Thank you so much for your guidance safely back down the mountain. However slow that may have been. We enjoyed your bright smile and culture lessons. We may not have reached our original destination, but to us it was about the journey and not the destination. We saw some of the most beautiful scenery and very much enjoyed our stay in your country. Thank you very much for your great help.
