Casual wear and comfortable walking shoes are the rule for Tibet. Be sure to bring warm clothing as night and early mornings can be quite chilly to downright cold in winter months. Bring all the film, medicine, cosmetics, personal toilet items, etc. that you will need from home as these are difficult if not impossible to obtain in Tibet. A small first air kit is also a good idea.
Clothing and accessories
- Thermal underwear, woolen or silk long sleeve tops & bottoms
- Woolen shirts, pullover, pants, socks, hat, gloves & scarves
- Down jacket or wind breaker
- Good walking boots or shoes
- Sun hat, sun glass, suntan lotion, torch light, pen knife
- Medicine for common colds, headache, diarrhea & Diamox against altitude sickness.
Currency
The currency of Tibet is Yuan. Money can be exchanged at the bank of China at Zhangmu, Shigatse and Lhasa.
Restrictions
There are strict over taking pictures inside the Monasteries but upon paying a fee, a Monk may turn on the lights making the flash less necessary. Do not carry any Dalai Lama pictures, free Tibet posters or tee shirts, Tibetan flags, or any political magazine or books.
Insurance
It is most necessary all clients to have full travel insurance coverage, particularly for medical and person accident risk, natural calamities, political instability, etc.
Time
As China has only one time Zone (Beijing), early starts in Tibet often occur during dawn. This is done to allow arrival into a particular city in time to take in all the sights.

Health
You should be physically fit & healthy for the participation on Tibet tour. Even if, there is no particular age limit guideline, children below 8 years or elder people exceeding 70 years or more are not advisable to take participation. Doctor's medical certificate is essential for trip. Further more, those who are sufferer of high blood pressure, heart problem or diabetic are not recommended for tour.
