Wildlife Safari at Chitwan National Park
Nepal's first and most famous chitwan national park, situated in the inner terai, which encircled by Churia hill sand flanked by the Rapti River. With its lush forest and exotic fauna that include the rare one horned rhino, the Royal Bengal tiger, crocodiles, elephants, deer and over four-hundred fifty three species of birds, the Royal Chitwan National Park offers one of the finest wildlife experiences in Asia. The national park covers an area of 932 sq. It was established in 1973 and became world heritage site in 1984. Sal forests, Cotton tree, and Dalbergia sissoo, open grassland and revering vegetation has provided the one of the best place to protect some of the endemic wild animals in Nepal, dominate the most of the park area. The park is very famous for its unique features and has protects a one-horned rhino. The another animal, an elephant is the very common animal of this park.
The park is the home of the great one- horned Indian rhino, Bengal tiger. Other animals here found here are the leopards, sloth bear, wild boar, rhesus monkey, grey langur monkey, species of deer. The Gangetic and marsh magar crocodile are found in a stretch of the river Narayani as well as dolphin. Over 453 species of birds have been recorded here, including the Indian peafowl, the tuneful black headed oriole, woodpeckers, hornbill, Bengal florican, waterfowl, brahminy duck, Pintails and the open bill stork. Chitwan National is easily accessible from Kathmandu and pokhara, well being connected by a national highway to Bharatpur and to Sauraha. Alternatively, you can make a short direct flight from Kathmandu to Meghauli airstrip just before the park boundary. Another exciting alternative is a two to three day raft trip down the Trishuli River to Narayan Ghat or directly into the western edge of the park.
